Print waste management specialist J&G Environmental has installed an Ulster U150 twin shaft shredder to increase its plastic recycling capabilities.

The Ulster U150 was installed last month at J&G’s Blandford Forum, Dorset facility in addition to its existing shredder, as part of a strategy to expand its recycling capabilities in general as well as offer its services across more sectors.

The new device has double the processing power of J&G’s existing equipment and is capable of processing heavier and bulkier plastic. It can process a wide range of items such as packaging plastic including bottles and tops, containers, crates, trays, pots, totes and films on reels as well as industrial plastics items such as moulding scrap, plastic sheets and redundant plastic plus end-of-life products including plastic buckets and laboratory plastic waste like bottles and pipette tip boxes.

The machine pre-shreds material before it moves into the wash plant, leaving granules that can be extruded into a huge range of re-use options, for example pipework, railway sleepers, plastic sheeting and car parts.

“As one of the leading waste management businesses in the UK, J&G Environmental is committed to delivering a quality service to customers across all markets, as the pressure continues to increase on companies to become more sustainable,” said J&G Environmental general manager John Haines.

“Investment in the new Ulster U150 twin shaft shredder not only means we can satisfy the demand from current customers, but also help new clients with their recycling needs and support their long-term environmental goals.”
